Ending of July

This week has dragged. Everyday seems so long; I woke up this morning thinking it was Friday, well more hoping it was Friday.
There's a saying that 'time flies when you're having fun' or ' when you're really busy the time flies', well for me this was defiantly not the case. Every second, even though i barely had time to breath, took forever to pass.
This past weekend, my mom, sister and I went shopping at this really awesome warehouse in Tokai. They sold the most amazing garments and has become my new favourite place to find unique little garments.
Now my theory or speculation on 'US-indi" clothing has become a form of a fact. American Indian clothing is defiantly a trend, basically anything with extended 'tassels' or fabric hanging from it. Even boots with suede tassels dangling from them, add a pair of leggings and a loose top, you will be off to a good trend. Now that is my mission: to find some indian looking garments.

South Africa has been experiencing snow in some parts, but Cape Town; oh no, Cape Town hasn't. It remains sunshine skies, warms days but icy nights. Where is our winter. What are we meant to be wearing. All this confusion, makes one dress incorrectly to the weather and then you look odd walking into work dressed like the sun is shining when it decided to be cold, windy and storm or visa versa.
Everyday has been a gamble- lets see how today plays out.

The boy-friend blazers are so in for this trend, especially with unique patterns or fabrics. You'll be the main attraction strutting your look at work or even at the mall.

This shirt below is a stylish version, I would say, of the 'Mandela shirt' which is why I love it. The ability to incorporate this into a stylish look is 'FAB!' Make a old, wacky shirt from the 90's look stylish again.

This image below: I love the most and is a real inspiration for me when figuring out what to wear. Apart from colour blocking, which I'm a huge fan of, tis style is unique and amazing. Stylish for any occasion or venue, whether it is work or going out with a few girl-friends, you'll look great!

American-Indian inspiration

I am loving the 'american- indiam' style of fashion. Combined with the 2011 post 70's with leggings, 'jeggings', a pair of shorts or even a pair of skinny jeans- the "A-indi" style is something I think works a stylish look.
I have included two images for examples.

BGretl's range- 2009

I thought I'd post something that I have done. In my 3rd year of Fashion, we had to do a mini- range. My range was inspired by the 70's and hip-hop. I love experimenting with colour and styles.

Kylie concert- 13 July 2011, Cape Town Grand West

So Wednesday I went to the Kylie Minogue concert.
I was so excited- we went as a department team building which was awesome. The concert was better than ever expected.
The day started like a normal day at work- anticipation building for the concert.
Us, production team, left and went to get all 'dolled-up' for the evening.
Arriving at Grand West, the show starting; climax building upon her arrival on stage to the ending of the show.
The garments, which I was told was Dolce and Gabbana, was stunning. There was a silver dress which looked like the fabric was made from a similar foil wrapping but I wanted it so badly. It was gorgeous, actually every outfit was stunning. She not only sang amazing- but it was literally a fashion show as well. Every details was accounted for- including the backup dancers and the projector screen i the background. I was blown away by everything!
Glitz, glamour, fashion and singing-WOW!

Betsy Johnson

As I stumbled upon Betsy Johnson range for RTW 2011- I found it really interesting. Not only is her style so different but I really love the playfulness of colour and styles. These garments has a lot of fine detail and a lot of design, which is something I appreciate and love.

Nails, Spikes, Fur and something great

Nails.

I have been having issue with my nails- keeping them in the tip-top condition according to my expectations and it’s a mission that I want to conquer.
At first, when the trend of printed nails hit Cape Town- I was feeling a bit dodge about it, but now it has intrigued me the fact; THAT I WANT IT ASAP!
I was paging through a magazine and saw a great, persuasive advertisement that makes printed nails look like the hottest new thing.

Spike jacket from Marie Claire.
I was paging through Marie Claire.com and came upon a interesting image/garment. Apart from the factor that it was filled with spikes but the fact that it was stunning. It is one of those garments you love to look at but can’t really purchase as where on earth would you wear it. You could probably wear to it a themed party but it could be a hazarded when going out in public. I feel you can really harm anyone that comes less than a metre into contact with you.’ Great for photo’s but not really wearable.’

Fur collars on jackets.
I passed a jacket a month ago at Mr Price and it was dirty cream with blue print on it, but the main thing was that it contained a detachable fur collar. Every day after not buying that jacket- I regretted it until I couldn’t stand it until I gave in and bought this jacket. A great buy from my part and I still love it. Fur collars are so hot this winter and make your outfit just ‘pop’ with sizzle.

The twins- I just really love these outfits. Hot for both a night out and for work.

Great buys.

Went for a pop-in at JayJays in Parow; but it is defiantly a shop where you can find a good buy. Although I feel it is a similar style to Mr Price, they also have “fab” garments.
I bought a cute knitted cropped sleeve-less hooded vest and a pair of gry sneakers.
I absolutely love them. Great for winter and looking cool while chilling and taking the day easy.
JayJays
I have spotted something on the JayJays website which tickled my fancy- now I am on the prowl for this exact jacket or something similar. (see attached tan hooded jackets, wit ribbing at the bottom) Something I love but don’t really own is tan garments. Tan clothing or and accessories tend to match any other colour you pair it up with but can easy be made to look tacky in the quality of the tan item. Be carefully when purchasing a tan piece of fashion. If it feels like rubber or too plastic- don’t get it as it will easily chip or appear cheap.
Anyway- so exciting news; next week the production department is going to the Kylie Concert and I have no idea what to wear. Loads of shopping to do in the month of July as apart from the concert, it is also my birthday month, and who wouldn’t want to look or feel good on their birthday, so I have to find something, even if it is an accessory to let me feel special.

 My new colour crush:
Even though my hair is fading which is the sadness new for me, I still very much love all shades of reds and maroons or cherry. There is a great little store in Cavendish mall that stocks amazing jewellery. Although pricy, the rings are amazing as well as chunky chains. I have purchased a few things there and will continue to be a fan of theirs.
I have attached a few of my most favourite pieces below-, which I will hopefully be purchasing soon! So slick and stylish. A simple thing like a ring can make a difference to an outfit.

The above ring is my real favourite. So petite and delicate- a flower.
