Update on my fashion

I have been so preoccupied with work, studies and doing absolutely nothing that it has consumed almost all of my time as well as my energy and lack of motivation to write down my thoughts.
Time has passed as though I am standing still, watching everything pass by.
I have decided to break down my thoughts into categories.
Nails:
This has been my latest project that I have tackled full force. Bets advice anyone can be given is 'take care of your hands, later in life, your hands can show your age'. So now I have been maintaining my hands to a great extent by Murphy's Law has been messing it up. Every day I some how get a cut or bruise on my hands.
I bought a good hand cream to help with fine lines and wrinkles.
Remember-the more time your hands are in water, the deeper the lines set into your hands, making it appear older.
My nails, I follow the trend of clear nail-polish and short as it gives a clean yet slick finish. Also I can not work with long nail; I have tried but lasted merely a week with long nails.
Nail polish stickers: known or similar to Jerseylicious nails. I really want to find something that doesn't appear as tacky as some that I have seen in store, although I have discovered that DisChem branches stock a variety of nail stickers for one to use instead of nail-polish, at a starting price of R79,99 which is really steep for nails, but could be worth it as it doesn't chip or fade.

Bottoms:
- Denims jean
I want to be able to pull off a white skinny jeans- someday that will be possible.
Wearing a white jeans isn't simple. It requires a certain styling factor as well as being able to not get it dirty, not even a smudge. However when wearing white skinnys, pairing it with a tan colour belt always makes it look great.
- Leggings/ Jeggings / Skinny Jeans
This is one of the main garments that I struggle to find, a basic, decent pair of jeggings, leggings or skinnies. They all seem to start out tight and body fitting, which is their main purpose, and then towards the bottom of the leg, just below the knee, it becomes slightly baggy- not being skinny at all. It frustrate me so much, I'm not sure if it's my body shape or the style but I really don't like it, as I rarely find a good fitting jegging/skinny.
Edgars has been having a great offer of 2 pairs of jeggings for R99.00. I tried on 2 different sizes. The one fit but loose at the bottom and the other fit prefect at the bottom but appears and felt a bit tight around the waist- only concluding to one thing: I needed to lose weight around my hips which is tough.
- High waisted
This is hot and so in, but pulling off a high-waisted shorts or pants is tough. It requires a great top to go with it as well as styling it correctly. The shoes you wear it with also counts towards looking 'fabulous'
Make sure you don't get a high-waisted pants that "just" fits. It must feel slightly loose around your thigh, if not, you could be looking like a 'tight, sqeeze-attempting to pull off a high-waisted look"
Me with head-band from Woolworths

Head-band from Woolworths

Accessories:
I recently bought 2 head bands from Woolworths, not only were they both cute and feminine but they added that something extra to my outfit. Woolworths had a great variety from headbands, alice bands or the cutest clips.
- Rings
As much as i love bulky, flashy rings- finding an affordable one is harder. Also try to get a variety. I only have 2 which I alternate but it gets repetitive and links different outfits together making it appear as though you wearing similar outfits daily. Diva in Cavendish has a great variety to offer as well as Mr Price.
- Hats
Now that Cape Town is experiencing both Summer and Winter all in one day, it is essential to have a few caps to keep your head and ears warm. Don't bother looking for something really expensive or in well known name-branded store, the side-walk stand throughout Cape Town, Cavendish and many more offers cute barets with a flower detail for only R30 maximum. Although it doesn't protect against rain, it looks stunning, sexy and loads of colours to choose from.

Ending of July

This week has dragged. Everyday seems so long; I woke up this morning thinking it was Friday, well more hoping it was Friday.
There's a saying that 'time flies when you're having fun' or ' when you're really busy the time flies', well for me this was defiantly not the case. Every second, even though i barely had time to breath, took forever to pass.
This past weekend, my mom, sister and I went shopping at this really awesome warehouse in Tokai. They sold the most amazing garments and has become my new favourite place to find unique little garments.
Now my theory or speculation on 'US-indi" clothing has become a form of a fact. American Indian clothing is defiantly a trend, basically anything with extended 'tassels' or fabric hanging from it. Even boots with suede tassels dangling from them, add a pair of leggings and a loose top, you will be off to a good trend. Now that is my mission: to find some indian looking garments.

South Africa has been experiencing snow in some parts, but Cape Town; oh no, Cape Town hasn't. It remains sunshine skies, warms days but icy nights. Where is our winter. What are we meant to be wearing. All this confusion, makes one dress incorrectly to the weather and then you look odd walking into work dressed like the sun is shining when it decided to be cold, windy and storm or visa versa.
Everyday has been a gamble- lets see how today plays out.

The boy-friend blazers are so in for this trend, especially with unique patterns or fabrics. You'll be the main attraction strutting your look at work or even at the mall.

This shirt below is a stylish version, I would say, of the 'Mandela shirt' which is why I love it. The ability to incorporate this into a stylish look is 'FAB!' Make a old, wacky shirt from the 90's look stylish again.

This image below: I love the most and is a real inspiration for me when figuring out what to wear. Apart from colour blocking, which I'm a huge fan of, tis style is unique and amazing. Stylish for any occasion or venue, whether it is work or going out with a few girl-friends, you'll look great!

American-Indian inspiration

I am loving the 'american- indiam' style of fashion. Combined with the 2011 post 70's with leggings, 'jeggings', a pair of shorts or even a pair of skinny jeans- the "A-indi" style is something I think works a stylish look.
I have included two images for examples.

BGretl's range- 2009

I thought I'd post something that I have done. In my 3rd year of Fashion, we had to do a mini- range. My range was inspired by the 70's and hip-hop. I love experimenting with colour and styles.
