I've always been very sensitive and cautious towards certain prints, one in particular is 'snake skin'. I guess it is just because I really can't pull it off as well as I never find something that interests me but today I saw a stunning snake skin printed heel.
It just so happens to be worn by my manager. And as mentioned before in a previous forum in my blog, not everyone can pull off the 'dirty pink' colour- but she did it not only with style but it looked 'hot'!
Absolutely love this shoe, so did a few of my other colleagues in Production too. I personally just think- Production ladies at HSM have style, full stop!

Colours
So a while back Jodie (colleague and friend) suggested I try wearing shade of green, but not any shade; deep emerald green, because my hair was now red and my porcelain fair skin- she thought it would compliment me great. I decided to try her advice out. I went to the stores in the hopes of finding something green-, which I did. I found a 3/4 deep green, chiffon ruffled shirt- perfect for work and goes great with me! Jodie really knows what she's talking about and has awesome advice.
Speaking about colours- I have a natural love for various shades of blue. My manager wore this absolutely amazing shade of electric blue pull over ‘cardi’, which I fell in love with. For some reason I have never seen that specific shade of colour in any decent female garments! I have seen similar, but none the same. I've always wanted a really stunning 'pajamas' in that shade but with Murphy's Laws always lurking about, it’s hard to find that.
Now red- I think everyone should own at least one red garment or piece of make-up or accessories. I hated red as I always though fair skinned people should naturally avoid any shades of red, as it would clash with their under-tone, but I was so incorrect. Red is a must, surprise you and be daring- wear red. If you are able to pull red lips off or red nails then wearing red has the ability to be something spectacular!
Dirty pink/soft pastel pink- now not everyone can really pull this colour off correctly to its fullest potential but when you have a certain skin tone- you are able to rock this colour. My colleague and friend, Hennelie- when she wears this shade of colour, it looks so amazing.
Bulky is best
How can anyone not have a weakness for clothing!
Yesterday, I spent the day in the shops with a friend, just shopping for him, it was insane. I honestly believe 'one' can never have too much of fashion.
The colour or trend I have noticed that has hit Cape Town, is my favourite colour- navy. It has hit SA and ruled it! Also- those awkward jerseys or pull overs we always see in movies, given to people by relatives over snowy christmas season is really a trend right now! Bulky, baggy, creams and navys-with the oddest patterns on them. I just love it!!

'Omw' I also noticed cropped above the belly jerseys- I'm so shocked. I need to get used to that idea and see how I would make it work for me, as odd as it may seem, there has got to be a stylish even 'hot', 'FAB' way to wear those little jerseys.

Shoes shoes shoe- I wish I had kept my 'dock-martins' from when I was a little girl, I would be saving loads and be a trend-forecaster! Lace up shoes, flats preferably similar to dock martins or 'granny boots' are too-die-for! They are not only for casual wear but can also be worn in a formal way; maybe match it with a tailored blazer, great earrings and a up-style hairdo, nothing is impossible.

Get creative
I have been thinking and analysing life. Clothing is not just a piece of cloth wrapped and sewed into a form of a garment or something that just hangs in a wardrobe or keeps one warm and covered. If you really think about it, clothing forms a part of memories. When you think back to a function or party, you’ll always say ‘ remember when Jane wore that outfit’ or when you went out with the girls and had a fun night, when you see a garment that you wore that specific night, it will bring up all the great memories and times shared. This goes for all aspects of fashion; garments, accessories shoes, every form of it.
The ultimate is ‘dress-up parties’ which even when it is a certain decade theme seems to form the greatest and happiest memories. Now it can be a advantage and disadvantage for some. Like when your life changes and you move on, I think it is a must to go on a shopping spree. Apart from the physical part of making you feel good, it helps with the emotional part too regarding a ‘fresh start’.
So what is happening in the world of fashion lately?
I have found 4 pictures that has inspired me- this is what makes me miss designing.
I loved being creative and designing clothing, more casual clothing.
The print dress-top.
How absolutely stylish is this. Wore alone in summer and even with leggings/ tights will be great. This can also be worn with jeans as a top.
Style different: Add a thin waist belt.
Tuck it into a jean or pants.
Wear a bulky chain with it but the chain must end on the top neckline, it must not dangle down your stomach.

Long blazers with rolled up sleeve.
I love this look. Wear it to work or wear it out with friends, either way you will be looking ‘FABULOUS’
Wear it with a cute printed dress that has a little flare. The dress length is important. Don’t try ‘ pimping’ it out with a maxi. Please, you’ll not only look ridiculous but I’ll cringe if even seen.
Preferably wear unbuttoned, if there is buttons on it.
So wear with high-waisted shorts, even high-waisted trousers for the office.
Add over-the knee socks and a ankle book and you’re set.

The white jacket.
Well this is a good jacket especially in Cape Town when it is all windy and raining.
Umbrellas don’t really work here as it just breaks, so find yourself a stylish, yet affordable rain jacket.
Find a fabric that allows water to fall from it not soak it up.
But I am in desperate need and seeking a jacket like this- well I’m hoping to find one with a hood for extra protection.
Travelling to work is one thing, so keep covered- rather wear something weather resistant while travelling regardless of how you look (ps: although try to find something good for you to feel better in) and when you arrive at work you wont be drenched in water, but instead look like a million dollars image from: westflied.com |
My final print jacket with tan boots:
This outfit, for me, screams ‘ Serena Van Der Woodsen, from Gossip Girl’.
This is a great inspirational outfit! The tuck in vest with a warmer jacket always does a trick to make a outfit look “upper east side”. Well I think the hair just adds to the look. An outfit is never complete if your hair and make-up doesn’t coincide. Make the complete package look great every time you step out of your house.
Ps: remember NO chipped nail polish. It’s my weak point, I hate it, yet I occasionally have it, which is yucky.

Anyways- I’ll will be back. I love clothing and talking about it. It gets me excited and forget about the dull factors in life. Get creative- the stores are waiting for all of you!
